Asus Transformer Preview

We've come to a point, in our society, where computers are everywhere and ever changing. First it was the desktop. Then it went to the laptop. Soon after were Netbooks, smartphones and now tablets. But there's a new tablet out on the market which gets a step up from them all. It's the Asus Transformer Tablet. Running honeycomb (Android 3.2) this tablet does everything you would expect a high end Android tablet to do. However with a price of 399.99, its the cheapest Android 3.2 tablet on the market.

I believe the best feature that comes with the Asus Transformer Tablet is the optional Keyboard dock. This keyboard connects to the bottom of the Tablet itself and 'transforms' the tablet in to a working netbook. The Keyboard has hot key buttons like home, back, screen shot, volume, settings, lock screen, etc. So you can tell its was designed for android. The keyboard also offers 2 additional USB ports for an external mouse or flash drive, SD Card slot and an additional charging port. Why you ask? Because when the keyboard is plugged in to the tablet, it gives your tablet an extra 8-9 hours of battery life! Just imagine using your new tablet/netbook for 16-20 hours of straight use. This thing could last you for days.

Some other notable things are Polaris Office and Splashtop. Polaris Office is an application that allows you to open, create and edit Word, Powerpoint and Excell documents. And it works just like any normal windows netbook would. Another cool Application that comes preloaded is Splashtop. This application allows you to control your computer/laptop on your tablet. It basically allows you to access files on your home computer from your tablet. Also allows you to load and play games as well (Yay finally Starcraft 2 on tablet!).

So I have a feeling that this tablet just opened a new door of whats to come for future tablets and devices.

(More on the Asus Transformer and unboxing coming soon)

Apples New A6 Quad Core Processor

So apple released information recently stating their new processor in the making(no longer made by samsung since samsung is now a rival company). The A6. So far what makes this processor so great is its Quad-Core. This means faster speeds and better battery life in the long run. But what devices will run this new A6 chip? Honestly, no one is 100% sure yet. We can assume that the A6 processor will be available in the new mac book airs and maybe even the iPads. Last time apple wanted to put a better and faster processor in the iPad(iPad2) it delayed production due to over heating issues. if they can perfect this processor maybe the new iPhone 6 would be the first smart phone offering a quad core processor(putting apple back on top of the competition).

Like I said before, not much is known right now and its just in the test period. However, keep an eye out and maybe in the near future we will hear more concrete information in the new A6 Quad-Core processor.

Droid Bionic(Review)

The New Droid Bionic is claimed to be the best smartphone to hit Verizon Wireless' LTE Service. Lets find out why.

Released on September 8th, the Droid Bionic has created a lot of hype for such a new device(its like, if everyone were to know the new kid in school). Under all the hardware the phone comes equipped with Android 2.3.4 powered by a 1GHz dual core processor, paired with 1GB or DDR2 RAM(phew, let me catch my breath). That is pretty amazing for a smartphone. I still know people who have computers with 1GB of RAM or less... This 4.3in display is starting to become an average size among all the newer smartphones on the market(I am also pretty sure that this is Verizon's first LTE phone to have a dual core processor).

The camera takes wonderful 1080P video and amazing photos with a 8MP camera with LED flash. There is also a front facing camera for video chats. The Droid Bionic is loaded with 16GB of internal memory and comes pre-loaded with a 16GB MicroSD card(Maximum is 32GB). Next to the micro USB charging port is HDMI out(yay for tv/monitor hookup!)

The 1735mAh battery is above average allowing almost 11 hours of talk time. However people say that the phone only lasts them about 8-10 hours on heavy use. That isn't too bad for the newer phones out on the market. You have to take in to consideration all the crazy things it can do compared to the older phones(or even the phones that were released last year).

The overall design of this device is very sleek and above average in my opinion. The scratch resistant screen is a great touch to the Droid Bionic(say good by to screen protectors, unless you're paranoid that you'll drop your phone or playing with a handful of diamonds). The volume rocker feels responsive and is nice to the touch. Not to inset or sticking to far out. The back to the phone has a nice, light rubbery feeling to it(kinda like the Motorola Droid 2). It looks good and fits well in your hands, what more could you ask for.

This phone is not a global phone, so its not simcard supportive(lame). However, this phone comes loaded with Motorola's WebTop dock which allows the user to connect the phone to the LapDock cradle. This can essentially turn your phone in to a laptop/netbook(sorta like the Motorola Atrix on AT&T).

Other than the phone being slightly large and heaver than average(5.6oz, average is 4.4oz), The Droid Bionic is the best phone offered by Verizon Wireless.

PDAnet Application for Android/Windows Mobile/iPhone

This is a wonderful application for your smartphone device. This allows you to take your laptop or tablet on the go with you and tether your phones internet to your device/laptop. So if you're outside with no WiFi, but you have cell phone service, just plug your phone in to your device and now you'll have internet access. But, you can also take any device that has WiFi and tether that to your phone. All you have to do is go to the PDAnet webpage and download this application on your computer. It will prompt you with step by step instruction on how to install this to your phone as well.

On top of that, while you phone is plugged in to your computer, there's a program in PDAnet called SMS agent. This program allows you to receive text messages to your computer from your phone in an instant messenger style. This feature is what I take most advantage of when I'm using my laptop. Its just convenient and i don't have to keep switching from my phone to my computer.

The free version of PDAnet only allows you to access certain sites on the web. Mainly sights that have high security are blocked(bank sites, etc). However, there is a paid version which varies in price depending on week it seems. I bought it for $9.99 about a year ago. Now its on sale for $15.99. its only a one time payment and can be used on any device with your log in credentials.

Personally, I think this is one of the best apps I have purchased. It's a must have for any android, iPhone and Windows Mobile user.

Dell Inspiron Duo 10-inch(Review)

You're a confused buyer looking at getting a new computer for your travels.. You think you want a new touchscreen tablet because they are new and hip, but you also want a physical keyboard because you feel more at ease using one. Well have no fear, The Dell Inspiron Duo is here!
The new Duo netbook converts from a tablet touchscreen to a netbook laptop with functioning keyboard. The Dell Inspiron Duo comes with a 10in touchscreen, full functioning keyboard and Windows 7 Premium. Also with pretty standard internals like 2GB of DDR 3 ram, Integrated Intel NM10 Graphics, Wifi enabled, 1.3MP webcam, 3.0 Bluetooth and a nice high resolution screen. The processor is a dual core Atom N550 which is pretty nice for a netbook(this will allow you to do basic daily computer tasks with ease. Don't expect to run games or hi-def movies with great frame rate).

When playing with a demo of this product the swivel mount supporting the screen seems very sturdy. When the computer is in both tablet and netbook mode, the screen fits flush in the case. The screen is nice and responsive to the touch(But there were times of lag here and there. Not sure if that was because its a floor model or not). When you are using the device in tablet form there is some extra size and weight added from the keyboard. So if you are looking for using this as a straight tablet which is significantly lighter, you might as well move on. However, when you want to type papers and such you can switch to using the keyboard in seconds.

The one issue I had while using this netbook is the touch pad on the keyboard is a little small. I found my finger moving off the pad really easily, guess that's something someone would have to get used to. Oh and also, I should add that the battery life is a bout 4 hours. Which is pretty horrible in my honest opinion. You might have to keep this plugged in all day. All in all this is a great start to the flip/swivel design but I think it could be better with a few upgrades and longer battery life.

HTC Inspire 4G; Wasted Potential...(Review)

And when I say wasted potential, I mean it. The HTC Inspire 4G could be such a great smart phone, but why didn't they make it as good as it could be? Who knows, I don't... Running Android 2.2, The Inspire's massive 4.3 touch screen is a wonderful addition for the AT&T family. With a 1GHZ processor, there is barley any lag when switching from screen to screen on HTC's Sense UI. However, I feel that HTC missed an opportunity on making this phone better.

If you are an Inspire owner than I've felt your pain. This has been my personal phone for about 5 months now and one of the major complaints I have is battery life sucks... I'll be happy if I get through 6 hours on heavy use or even 8 hours on light use. The large screen is nice but its a killer on the very small 1250mAh battery. A phone this size needs at least 1500mAh to last most of the day.

The inspire comes standard with an 8MP dual LED flash on the back, and man, that thing can get bright. Picture quality is great. Here's a picture I took when I first got the phone.

However the Inspire 4G is lacking a front facing camera. Not a big deal for me but when there are other phones out there that have one, why get one that doesn't?

The exterior of the phone is a very nice brushed aluminum with plastic battery/sim card doors. However, because of the design of the battery door its impossible for a larger size battery to be inserted. You'll have to spend a lot of money on a "Higher Capacity" battery which have the same dimensions(I bought 2 and neither helped). Lastly, the external speaker for notification and video sounds isn't that loud. Even on max volume.

Other than that the call quality is amazing, the phone is very responsive, camera takes excellent shots, video is great, and at a low price of $49.99 (in some places), I cant complain.

Windows 8. The new Touch Screen OS? Yeah, I think so

Yesterday (September 13, 2011) Microsoft displayed a sneak peak to the new and upcoming Windows OS, Windows 8. For the most part, its a touch only OS with the same live tile feature found on the Windows Metro OS(Mobile Windows phone OS).However, It will be available for the PC as well. Right now you can get a pre-beta version of this software here. This page includes installation instructions as well.

Other than the live tiles and metro like feel, Windows 8 will come with over 100 new features(wow, that's crazy. I guess they need to catch up to the other tablet OS). Phonearena.com states that during the press release, it was briefly mentioned that Windows 8 is compatible with a mouse and keyboard. Other features include, Internet Explorer 10, Cloud storage(All your settings and information are stored to your Windows Live ID), Picture password and many more. Read more about them here.
"Up until right now, tablets have been more toys than anything. Yea they can run a lot of apps, but there are tons of stuff that a regular computer can do that a tablet cant. If this OS can successfully be backwards compatible with Windows 7 programs... on a tablet... that will vastly change the tablet experience that we have today. Apple and Google will both technically be playing catch up to Windows 8 to add in whatever functionality they see as "missing", especially if Windows 8 tablets take off in sales.

That and maybe we get Starcraft 2 in tablet form.. :)"
-Comment by Remixfa on Phonearena.com
Starcraft 2 in tablet form would be amazing, I have to agree, but the best part is Windows 8 will be backwards compatible with Windows 7. So all the gadgets/widgets and programs you have on Windows 7 will work on Windows 8 as a third party application. And if this didn't get you hooked. Windows 8 only will take a few minutes to install and any windows tablet you get will last a full day on one charge! Now that's amazing!

Windows 8 still has about a year or more before it's official release. Some of the features they talk about in the near future might be dropped by the final release date and other things might be added as well. We will just have to wait and see, But I'm really anxious about the new Windows 8 OS.

HTC Sensation XE Rexiew

So if you're not aware, the HTC Sensation was just recently released by T-Mobile. But hold up, the title says HTC Sensation XE? I know, I'm just as shocked as you are. The developers at HTC have announced the release of the Sensation Xe for late September in the UK. Not knowing the actual date for the US, all I can say is, expect it late 2011 or early 2012. The new sensation will be a nice upgrade from the previous one and include Beats by Dre Audio(Yay, awesome audio quality!).

Externally the two Sensations look identical. 4.3in display and 8MP camera which can shoot 1080p. However, inside its a whole different beast(Its like hulk before he turns green, thank you look inside and there he is; All big, angry and green. Looking at you like you didn't put your cloths away from last night. Mom, I know, get off my case. But, I digress...). Boosted with a 1.5GHz dual core processor and a 1730 mAh battery, where the previous model only had a 1520 mAh battery.

Coming standard with Android 2.3.4 and HTC Sense 3.0, everything else about it is pretty much the same. Oh and one other major change. The lights are red, I think that's pretty awesome.

Smasung Epic 4G Touch for... Sprint? (Preview)

Getting ready for its release in a few days, the Samsung Epic 4G Touch is one of the first Galaxy S II Phones to hit the united states. Embedded with a 1.2GHz dual core Samsung Exynos processor and 1G of ram, this 4.5in Touchscreen smart phone might be one of the best phones available for Sprint users. And of course running the latest android software(2.3).

With an 8MP camera, 2MP front facing camera, 1080p HD Video and dual LED flash, this phone is running with the big dogs. What puts it above all its other competitors is its getting all its power from a 1800mAh battery!!! That's amazing(feel my excitement!) This phone should last you all day, with no problems.

This phone comes standard with all the bells and whistles that any new smartphone would. Micro USB, Blue Tooth, WiFi and upgradable to 32g of memory. The official release date for this phone is Sep. 16, 2011! That's just a few days away. Make sure you get your hands on the Samsung Epic 4G Touch while you can!

Verizon Gets the New HTC Vigor Relatively Soon (Preview)

If you have Verizon Wireless and you looking to get a new phone sometime soon, you might want to hold off till the HTC Vigor gets released. Expected early to mid October, this phone runs the android 2.3.4, i.e. newest version of software coined Gingerbread, out of the box. Thats crazy since most phones just received 2.3 not to long ago. Also, HTC is using their new HTC Sense UI version 3.5. A vibrant 720 x 1280 px (720p), 4.3in display will make any experience on this phone enjoyable. Battery life hasn't been released yet, but if you know anything about phones with larger screens, you hope its 1500mAh or more.

This phone might or might not off of 4G LTE, But its expected to replace the HTC Thunderbolt as the 'Thunderbolt 2'. It comes with a 1.5GHz dual core Qualcomm Adreno 220 processor. Which is way above average with the phones out now. Don't expect much lag or delay when using this phone, that's for sure. Stocked with 1G of ram, 16 gigs of internal storage, and expandable SD card memory for 32 gigs, you cant go wrong.

The Vigor also comes with a very nice 8MP camera, a dual LED flash and a excellent 2MP front facing camera for face chat. And last but not least, your standard microUSB charging port. Trust me, I cant wait to get my hands on this and I'm sure you do as well!

Dead Island. ZOMBIES! (Review)

Finally its here folks, Dead Island. The most unknown anticipated game of the year! So I think anyway... This gory and gruesome, first person, online, zombie survival RPG, hit shelves last week. So grab an axe and lets cut off some zombie heads.

The game play in general feels natural and if you're like me, playing late at night in a small dark room alone, the game can put you on the edge of your seat. Dead Island incorporates 4 player online mode for the PC,  XBL and PlayStation online; so zombie slaying can become a family activity("MOM! Get in here! What do you mean what are we doing?! We're killing zombies!). However, the quest objectives seem a little strange at times, you might find small holes in the story line and lack of game play instructions/controls. Other than that the game itself is amazing.

You start out able to select from one of the 4 main characters who happen to be on vacation during the zombie outbreak(dont think that's ironic, It was planned). Game play in the beginning is a bit slow till you start getting quests to do. But hang in there, the games worth the wait. Progressing through the game play you earn experience and gain levels(awesome idea), you earn stats and you can upgrade and skills as well(Just like every other RPG). Don't forget to kick(I didn't know how to till after the first hour or 2 of playing). Your character is only able to hold 4-8 weapons depending on its level(and if you include your fists), but all the weapons can be modified and upgraded if you know the right people. But watch out for their durability, and repair them before they break and become unusable.

So that's it, in a nutshell. You unlock new areas throughout the game, go to new city's and the zombies level with your level. There are a few points, when you get higher in level, where 2 people isn't an option; Its a must have.

Hope everyone enjoys this game as much as I do!

New iPhone 5 or just the iPhone 4 repackaged...?

Apple always bothered me by coming out with a new iPhone every 6 months that was just slightly better than the last one they just put out. In turn pissing off all their customers who have just previously bought the last model. But don't be alarmed, you can buy the new one by trading your old one in and paying half priced for a new one, (Still setting you back $150 on top of what you paid for your last one) what a deal...

So the new iPhone 5 is supposed to be coming out soon, yet no one knows the date. Companies are getting mix signals from Apple which is creating frustration for them and their clientele. But why does everyone want this new iPhone? I just don't get it sometimes, here's what we know so far about the new iPhone 5...
"The addition of the NFC chip to the iPhone isn't for easy credit card purchases, but so the phone companies can control your financial transactions. Be warned."   - PC Magazine
There is this new chip in the iPhones, which in concept sounds great, but in use it can destroy your life(or at least your social one). This chip is installed in the phone so that you can just swipe your phone at the register when making a purchase, and the purchase will be added to your cell phone bill. Awesome idea, I know, no more credit cards or cash. I wish i would have thought of that. However, this now means two things. The cellphone companies will know and track all your financial purchases(because now their your bank) and  also, unlike your bank, if you fail to pay your cellphone bill, your service gets cut. So now you have no phone and still a payment. So, just to warn you, don't use that feature or you could be in a mess of trouble.

Besides that, the new iPhone apparently isn't much different than the last one(I say apparently because no one really knows the specs 100%). But there are some positive improvements which are worth taking a look at. The iPhone 5 is aimed to be loaded with Apple's new A5 dual core processor; However, this is one of the main reasons apple didn't release the phone in June. The processor is the same one found in the iPad2, but when paired with the new phone, all it did was over heat. So because of this apple might just make small improvements from the iPhone 4 and sell it on the market as the iPhone 5(Sounds stupid). It will have a nice 8MP camera with single LED flash(This is the first time the iPhone has had an updated camera, I'm so proud *sniffle*) and a nice 4in retina display screen. I'm sure they wont downgrade so expect a front facing camera as well.

All in all its a nice upgrade and a fresh breath of air for apple and iPhone users, But are you willing to shell out $200 or $300 bucks for a new iPhone which is only a slight upgrade from your last one and can track you financially?

Watch a rumor video of the iPhone 5 here...

Android Finally Gets Netflix!

Windows users have been bragging about the netflix app on their phones for a while now(Too long in my opinion). Now, android users can finally know what its like to have netflix on the go(Yay! *And the crowd goes wild*). So if you're an android user and a netflix member, go to the android market and download netflix today! If your not a netflix member, its simple and easy to join on their website.

Happy watching!

New HTC Titan (Preview)

"Its massive!"(Thats what she said).

AT&T users are bracing themselves for the newest windows phone expected to be released late 2011 early 2012. The HTC Titan lives up to its name. It comes standard with Windows 7.5 mango OS. With a screen size of 4.7in, who wouldnt want to use this as a mobile movie watching device without carrying around a tablet (However, this phone might put cargo pockets back in style).

The HTC Titan sets a high benchmark for newer phones and devices since it comes with 512 MB of ram and also is powered by a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset. Wow, now thats a mouthful (Thats what she said again...). But dont let the size scare you away, It only gets better from there. A nice 8MP wide angle camera which is married with a 1.3MP front facing camera and a dual LED flash.

Running off a 1600 mAh battery, expect this phone to last you a while. However, not to long. The size of the screen will drain battery life more than other smartphones out there. But I think its a great idea HTC incoperated a larger battery in this device. With 11 hours of talk time, the phone is ranking above average (8 hours), but with heavy use, dont expect anything more than 6-8 hours.

Other hardware additions include microUSB charging port(Standard for newer phones), Tethering and standard 3.5mm Headphone jack.

The HTC Titan might be a large phone in hand, but I have a feeling this will be setting a high benchmark for future smartphones.

The LG Optimus Sol. New Life for the Mobile Phone Department

A new user friendly phone was just recently announced by LG called the Optimus Sol. Available mid-September in Europe, the LG Optimus Sol sports a 3.8 inch WVGA (Wide Video Graphic Array) AMOLED display, 5.0MP camera and 1 GHz processor (Which is now average for high-end mobile devices). This phone packs a big punch for only sizing in at 9.8mm thick.

On top of the phones fall-in-love-with display, LG incorporated a new idle-based power management system which in turn will save 20-30% battery life, and with these new Smartphone’s with large screens; 20-30% more battery life can make a world of difference.

There are few downfalls to this device. There’s no dual core processor, no front facing camera and only 5.0MP camera. However, this device will be one of the most affordable 1GHz Smartphone’s, with an AMOLED screen, out there.

The new LG Optimus Sol looks promising for the future and I can’t wait to get my hands on one!

HP’s Leap of Faith

HP decides to stop making webOS hardware (phones/tablets)…

Whether you are a fan of HP products and webOS or not, getting your hands on a HP TouchPad tablet for $99 is a steal. Since this is no secret, it might be hard to leave your computer and get one now because most places are sold out. But don’t be alarmed, HP is still planning on continuing webOS. They are hoping to join with another companty to license this software on different devices. If you already have a webOS device, you may still see webOS updates in the future.
Running a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon dual core processor, user experience should be anything but sluggish. Married to a nice 9.7 inch, 1024 x 768 pixel touch screen, and a lovely price, you can’t go wrong. A down fall about HP’s webOS is its lack of applications from outside users (a.k.a. third party applications).
But don’t get all frazzled, there is good news (kinda) emerging from the wood work. Developers, like the popular CyanogenMod software makers who ported Android to the Barnes & Noble NOOK Color, are planning to port Ubuntu (Linux) and the ever so popular Google Android to this HP Tablet. So for all you android lovers out there, be patient and you can get an affordable tablet running your favorite OS.

Straight Talk or Shall I Say, Smart Talk...

Is Straight Talk really a competitor compared to Verizon Wireless, AT&T and even T-Mobile? Why should I buy Straight Talk, wouldn't a well known brand like Nextel or Sprint be better? I've heard these questions way too much in the past few months. More and more people are switching to straight talk now than they ever have before. I mean, I don't blame them. $45/month for unlimited everything. That beats the $50/month plan Verizon Wireless has for just unlimited data and text(Calling costs per minute) and the non unlimited plans on AT&T. Now don't let T-Mobile fool you, its only $49.99/month for unlimited if you join with 2 lines on your plan. An individual plan will set you back $89.99/month just like the other competitors. The main reason AT&T and Verizon Wireless have the most amount of users and T-Mobile doesn't is mainly for the sole fact that T-Mobile service isn't as abundant as AT&T or Verizon. So the service you get on T-Mobile wont be as great in some regions as in others.

So whats holding you back from switching to Straight Talk? Is it the contract that's keeping you in bind, or is it the fact that Smart Talk doesn't have a great selection of phones? Either is a valuable excuse however, I may have some great news for the listening ear. Other than the fact that Straight talk can be paid monthly, tri-monthly, or yearly; Straight Talk is an off branch of AT&T so the service you get with Straight Talk should be equally as good as if you had AT&T just paying $40 less a month, YAY! But if your problem is the phone selection, have no fear. Getting the most popular phones on a straight talk plan might be against the terms of service but will get you a phone you like on an affordable plan. According to web sources, Straight Talk uses the same type of sim card that AT&T uses, so if you buy the right Straight Talk phone (Black Berry/Android), you'll be able to take the sim card out and place it in a high end AT&T phone(Basic, Android or iPhone[iPhone 4 uses microSim cards so you'll need a sim cutter]).

Awesome right?! But there's a catch...
  1. If you do this and they catch you they will terminate your plan.
  2. Don't go over 2g of data per month or your account will be flagged and checked. So use WiFi
  3. This process will break your terms of service agreement!
So if you stay under the radar and use WiFi, Internet sources say you should be fine. I'm positive that Straight Talk will catch on sooner or later forcing major companies to lower prices of their contracts.

Are 3D Phones Worth the Money?

Okay, if you don't know already, blog stands for "place where someone babbles about random things that interest them and usually not many people care about." And I enjoy to do just that. However, if you're reading this you might have, at some point, asked yourself this very question. But in my honest opinion, I will tell you that I feel they are a waste of money. *Dodging shoes (presendital reference)* HEY, let me explain...

Its simple, you wanted a 3D phone because it the cool, new, 'hip' thing but when you get it you feel a bit disappointed. 3D doesn't really mean jump out at you in 3D like the awesome movies do(not talking about avatar, umm yuck). Although they come with a dual camera for 3D video shooting, the phone itself isn't actually 3D. Most of the time you have to press a button on the side of the phone to activate a new and cool 'pop-out-at-you'-screen. Most of the time its basically a wheel of apps that spin towards you while they enlarge and shrink depending on their location in the wheel, i.e., 3D effect.

The battery life on these new phones are poor. You would think with amazing screen sizes and now 3D graphics, they would update the battery capacity.
*Sigh*
You'll be lucky if you happen to get half a day with some of the newer phones. The 3D graphics drain a ton of battery so keeping it plugged in when using it might be the only option. Lastly, because of the 2 cameras, updated graphics and such, the 3D phones are very bulky. Ughhh, nothing I want to contend with.

Final thoughts(Yes Jerry I'm talking about you...)
All in all, at this point in time, 3D phones just don't seem worth it to me personally. All they read are bulky, battery killer and... and... silly? They're great to show off to the kid in class you'll never see again but all your friends will hear about for the next 2 years (If you can bear it) is how your phones about to die... There are plenty of great phones out there that will last you a day or two and still get the job done. Just shop around, maybe a 3D phone is right for you.

The New-ish LG Phoenix (Review)

So the LG phoenix and I go way back, probably about a week. But I've been there for it the first time it was taken out of the small cardboard box it was shipped in. Ahhh good times, but I digress... Any who, I like to think of this phone as a baby android. Its only running Froyo (android 2.2) out of the box, however I'm a sucker for ice cream (frozen yogurt in this case). The device itself feels great in my hands and even though I'm used to a larger screen (4.1 in), this smaller 3.2 in screen is actually better than expected, my fat thumbs can type flawlessly. Now when I use my normal phone it feels so weird having a large screen, thanks LG...

The phone itself sizes in at 4.47 x 2.32 x 0.53 in (LxWxH). I know it doesn't sound like much since everyone's a 'size queen' now adays but its a great change. Since the LG Phoenix is an android device it comes standard with email, music, web, Blue tooth, WiFi and yes even sms/mms. The battery capacity is 1500 mAh and using it heavily, It lasts me a day and a half.

Let me explain a few things I wish LG would have done to make this a phone i would replace my current one with. First things first, the screen material(for lack of a better term). Its not the awesome glass that everyone's used to on a high end smartphone, its more like a cheap plastic feeling. However using it for a week I haven't accumulated any scratches... knock on wood. Second, I wish it had a faster processor. It come standard with a 600MHz processor which is fine and has very little lag when doing things, but when you try to multitask you can feel it slow down. Lastly I wish it had a larger MP camera. Its only 3.2MP with no flash which is standard for a basic phone but if it's gonna be a replacer, it has to be at least 5MP+ with flash in my book.

So all-in-all I like this phone and if you want a nice, compact, reliable android phone without either breaking the bank or too large of a screen, The LG Phoenix is the way to go.

Other Information worth knowing...
If you planing on rooting this phone, the processor cant get overclocked higher than 600(Lame I know. Drop F-bombs, break things, listen to metal, whatever you have to do to get your frustration out). This phone would be on a top list of mine if i could over clock it to 1gHz.

Also, custom roms are hard to find for this device, might have to check out xda for custom roms (Try searching for LG Optimus T or V roms).

Any other questions feel free to ask!

Welcome...Entry...Thingy?

Welcome to Daily Electronic!

My name is Doug and my passion and drive for the newest and coolest technology lead me to making this wonderful blog you will call home for the next 20 minutes or so... Hopefully longer. I plan on posting blogs about new cellphones, tablets and electronics, reviewing those same types of products, insider scoop on hacking and customizing your phone and maybe will go off on a few tangents here or there... (I tend to run in to some crazy things during my day which I'm sure ill share.)

I'll try to post something new every day(hinting at "Daily" in the title) or every other day(I do have a life too you know, Shocker). I am also making something in the works about either weekly "Weird things found on eBay" or "Awesome randomness you must have(or at least I want).

Hope you enjoy what I have to say!
